Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Highlander is designed as a family-friendly crossover, balancing practicality with a touch of style. Its athletic styling marks a significant departure from prior models, which were often viewed as bland and without character. The redesign focuses on a brawny outward appearance alongside a comfortable and functional interior. Highlights include a cavernous center console and versatile seating configurations, making it well-suited for family adventures.
Under the hood, the Highlander offers a capable V6 engine that delivers 270 horsepower, paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission. This setup allows for confident driving whether commuting in the city or tackling weekend getaways. The Highlander's all-wheel-drive system is particularly noteworthy, providing a robust response in various conditions. Toyota has also equipped the Highlander with a comprehensive suite of safety features, which includes advanced airbags and optional systems like lane-departure warnings and blind-spot monitoring, further appealing to safety-conscious buyers.
While the Highlander excels in many areas, some users have noted minor shortcomings, such as the desire for improved fuel economy and the comfort level of rear seats. Nevertheless, the overall package offers an impressive value proposition, making the 2014 Highlander a strong contender in the crossover market.

Overall the experience of driving the vehicle is fantastic. The higher seating above a sedan car makes this a pleasant ride in any weather enabling the driver to see far ahead when driving in heavy traffic. It has enough air bags to float a tank.

Our Limited AWD is a very solid car that we expect to drive for a long time. Very comfortable seats. The space is easily configured for people or cargo. Love the shelf under the dash!

Overall... excellent vehicle. Front row and 2nd row seats adjust to accommodate most drivers/riders. I did alot of shopping around before I made my purchase and what I found is that the Highlander is really the best value for the money. The interior is very nice... not cheap looking as compared to some other mid-size SUVs which were actually more expensive.

The car feels solid, that’s what I was looking for. The downside is that the seats are uncomfortable and the mirrors don’t fold in.
