Great commuter car. Very inexpensive maintenance. Great safety features; front end collision warning, full airbag coverage, traction controls. 3 years free onstar. Satellite radio. Heated seats. Nice remote features; auto all windows down, key proximity unlock, auto start for pre-cooling or preheating. Nice climate control system. A little noisy because of the hatchback. Minimal storage space unless you fold the rear seats down.

I love the concept of this car. The 35 mile EV range is great, and the gas backup is even better. I think it's the best concept out there for me right now. I'm still new to the car, so I can't give it top ratings on everything yet, but so far so good with how it performs. It also looks great. The two main negatives are back seat room and the instrument (infotainment) central cluster. It has 2 bucket seats in back rather than a bench seat and the leg room isn't ideal either. The trunk is smaller than the Prius I had before. The central cluster is super awkward, crowded, and non-intuitive. Also, the premium sound system upgrade and the safety package upgrades don't seem to be worth it at this point.

Can't wait for the next version w/ Active Cruise, lane detection and Pedestrian warning systems. And a way to set the charge level high and turn off the stupid warning beeps. Blah, blah, blah Oh and raise the front height and reduce the wind noise w/ the windows open.......enough?

I owned a 2013 volt first, which was a fantastic car, but my wife likes white better than black, and to keep the dissatisfaction down, I traded it off for this 2014 white one. Both were great on gas with no problems at all. Neither has ever been back to the dealer for anything. We sold the black one with 20,000 miles on it in 11 months of use. 80+ MPG at all times. Wonderful cars. I highly recommend them... Update; 4/4/2014 A lot of people compare it to the Prius, but as far as I am concerned, there is no comparison. the Volt has the Prius beat hands down for looks, performance, material quality, and ride. the only drawback is, it is a 4 passenger sedan. We never use the back seat for anything, so that is no problem. On a day trip of 250 miles, I got an average of 46 MPG, on gas and elect. When I drive it around this area, I always get over 150 MPG on trips less than 40 miles, even in cold weather. Zero degree weather bites into the mileage some, but that doesn't happen much around here very much, in fact hardly ever. this was a bad winter. My son-in-law owned a Prius, and after he drove my volt 3-4 times, he went directly to the Chevy dealer, and traded the Prius off. He absolutely loves his volt also. This volt is my second one. both never taken back to the dealer. We have averaged 81 MPG on this one for the full time we have owned it. We traded for this one in August of last year, and currently have 5602 trouble free miles on it, as of now. The 2013 had 20,008 trouble free miles on it when we traded it with 10 months service. It also averaged over 80 MPG. Believe me, they are fantastic cars. You will not be sorry if you purchase one. The $7500.00 federal tax credit makes it very reasonable to buy, along with Illinois gives a rebate from the EPA of 10% of the base price of the car which is $3418.50. Of course you have to pay at least $7500 in taxes to get the IRS credit. Highly recommended!!! I highly recommend the volt, A great car.
