About 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Overview

As with most pickup trucks, there are a nearly endless number of combinations you can use to create your 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup. The combinations begin with 5 different trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. From there, buyers can choose from a myriad of drivetrains (rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive with either one of a pair of engines); bed lengths (6.8 foot or 8 foot); and cab styles (Regular, Crew Cab or SuperCab). Following a major redesign of the Super Duty lineup for 2011, no changes were made for the 2013 model year.
The XL and XLT trim levels are available with a Regular, Crew Cab or SuperCab; with RWD or 4WD; and with either a 6.8- or 8-foot-long bed. The Lariat trim is available with a Crew Cab or SuperCab, RWD or 4WD and a 6.8- or 8-foot-long bed. The King Ranch and Platinum trims are available only with a Crew Cab, with RWD or 4WD and a 6.8- or 8-foot-long bed. All trims come with single rear wheels by default; those with 8-foot beds can be configured with dual rear wheels.
Two powertrains are available for all trim levels of the 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup. All come standard with a 6.2-liter SOHC 2-valve Flex-Fuel V8 engine that makes 385 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque, but a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel that achieves 400 hp and 800 lb-ft of torque is also available. Each is paired with a TorqShift heavy-duty 6-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift. Mileage estimates for the F-350 Super Duty were not available as of publication date. The Flex-Fuel engine is capable of towing up to 15,000 pounds (15,800 pounds in dually configurations), while the turbo-diesel engine has a maximum towing capacity of 17,500 pounds, depending on configuration, with duallys topping out at 22,700 pounds.
Starting with the XL trim, the 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty comes with air conditioning, power steering, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, vinyl 40/20/40 split bench front seat, vinyl 60/40 split rear seat, manual lumbar for driver’s seat, an AM/FM stereo with 2 speakers, manual trailer tow mirrors, dual-beam halogen headlights and 17-inch argent-painted steel wheels. Buyers of the XLT trim receive as standard equipment cruise control, power locks, power windows, a steering wheel with mounted audio controls, cloth 40/20/40 split bench seat, cloth 60/40 split rear seat, 2-speaker AM/FM stereo with single CD player and Sync Basic, power heated trailer tow mirrors and 17-inch 6-spoke cast-aluminum or argent-painted steel wheels.
Those who choose a Lariat trim of the 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty get dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio controls, premium leather front bucket seats, a 10-way power driver's and front passenger seats with manual lumbar support, premium vinyl 60/40 fold-up bench seat, power-adjustable pedals, 2-speaker Sony premium stereo system with AM/FM radio and single CD player and Sync with MyFord Touch and SiriusXM satellite radio, rear-view camera, fog lights, heated power-folding and telescoping trailer tow mirrors and 17-inch forged polished aluminum or 18-inch bright machined cast aluminum wheels.
Buyers of the King Ranch trim will get unique King Ranch front leather seating surfaces, 10-way heated and cooled power driver's and front passenger seats with manual lumbar support, a navigation system, remote start system, 17-inch forged polished aluminum or 18-inch King Ranch-painted polished forged aluminum wheels. Platinum trim buyers get, as standard equipment, premium leather seating surfaces with perforated inserts and 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels.
The 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty has a number of standard safety features, including front airbags, front-seat side airbags, roll-fold side-curtain airbags, 4-wheel power disc brakes with antilock braking system, AdvanceTrac with roll stability control, trailer sway control and a tire pressure-monitoring system. All trims also come standard with the SecuriLock antitheft ignition.
Those who have bought a 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty are impressed with the pickup’s towing capacity and smooth and quiet ride, but some are less than thrilled with its steering capability, while diesel owners lament its sluggish acceleration.
Although the 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty has strong competition from the GMC Sierra 3500HD, Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD and Ram 3500, it leads the pack with its towing capacity and high-tech amenities inside the cabin. Competitively priced, the F-350 Super Duty offers plenty of choices for even the most discerning heavy-duty pickup buyer.
