About 2009 Dodge Journey
Overview
Entering the crossover segment for the first time, Dodge offers up the 2009 Journey. Sharing a platform with the Avenger, but adding five inches to the wheelbase, the Journey comes standard with two rows of seats for five people, but a two-person bench can be added as a third row.
The emphasis here is on storage and comfort. Storage comes in the form of a dual glove box with cooler, two under-floor storage bins in the second row (also with a 12-can cooler), and a flip-up front passenger cushion that hides a smaller bin. A tri-fold under-floor storage area in the cargo hold adds more versatility, and a roof rack can be added. Comfort is supplied by stadium seating, reclining second and third rows, and a second row that moves forward and back to accommodate the need for extra legroom or extra storage. Both rows also split-fold, and the front passenger seat folds flat if you need to store longer objects. The 2009 Dodge Journey apparently features more third-row headroom than any of its rivals.
The front-wheel drive crossover will be available in three trims -- SE, SXT, and R/T. A 2.4-liter, 186-hp I4 engine and 4-speed automatic are standard in the SE, while the SXT and R/T get a 3.5-liter, 235-hp V6 with a new shiftable 6-speed automatic. R/T trims can also be outfitted with automatic all-wheel drive, larger 19-inch wheels, and a performance suspension. All trims keep family in focus by including a lot of standard safety equipment, such as ABS brakes, dual front-side and side curtain airbags for all rows, rollover protection, and traction and stability control. There will be a lot of fun extras, including a DVD player, rearview camera, refrigerator, and a MyGIG entertainment system with hard drive.
The new 2009 Dodge Journey maintains a family wagon feel and look, but adds in a few Dodge performance car nods without appearing too muscular like the Magnum. Large wheel flares, quad halogen headlamps, and a rear liftgate spoiler are some of its distinguishing features.

Great vehicle. The 3.5L V6 is very adequate for this vehicle. You can't even hear it running and yet when you step on it has a nice sound through the dual exhaust. The ride quality is absolutely amazing! My buddy who has a Cadillac Escalade says it rides better than his vehicle. The 19" wheels and chrome plated rims really add a sporty appearance. I get compliments all the time. The gas mileage is pretty good considering it weighs 4000lbs. All in all I would definitely recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for versatility and a very comfortable ride. Oh and I almost forgot....there is storage everywhere!!
