Restyled in mid-year 2006, the 2007 Kia Optima adds 1-hp onto its I4 engine, but is pretty much a carryover of what has been dubbed the 2006.5 Optima. This mid-sized sedan with an emphasis on elegant styling and abundant features at an economy price comes in either LX or more upscale EX trims. Both are available with either the 2.4-liter, 162-hp I4 or the 2.7-liter, 185-hp V6. A 5-speed manual is standard on the I4, and all other trims come with a 5-speed automatic. The 2007 Optima adds more room to the sedan, with extra length, height, width, and an extended wheelbase. This means more trunk space and overall legroom, and it claims to be one of the largest mid-size sedans out there. Though ABS, traction, and stability control are optional, the Optima does come standard with front, side impact, and side curtain airbags. Base LX features air conditioning, power windows and locks, heated mirrors, and a manually adjustable seat. When equipped with the auto tran, cruise control and audio controls on the steering wheel come standard. The EX has a power driver's seat, foglights, leather trim, and automatic climate control. A sunroof and leather seats are optional only on the EX.
An affordable, yet stylish family sedan, with improved handling and reliability, is what the 2007 Optima hopes to be. Owners love how many standard features come with it, and they also feel it's comfortable and roomy. Many mention that the ride feels stiff and the seats need more support and padding.
