Especially since 2006 marks the last year you can buy a Maserati Gransport, it certainly made sense to close things out with a little flash. Maserati obliged by dropping the top on the popular 2 door, 4 seat coupe. The lineup now has 4 trims: the LE, MC Victory, base Coupe, and the now topless Spyder. Otherwise, the Gransport stays true to its identity as the slightly stronger, more aerodynamic cousin of the Coupe (the Maserati model, not the trim). The 4.2 L, 400 hp V8 powertrain uses 6 speed automatic transmission and helps you get 12 mpg in the city, 17 on the highway. In a hurry? The Gransport goes from 0-60 mph in just under 5 seconds and maxes out at 180 mph.
As with the Maserati Coupe, the Gransport rides like a dream. Low suspension and an aerodynamic design help it cut a smooth path to your next destination. Of course, that destination may turn out to be the gas station, given the low fuel consumption. Regardless, the Gransport has made its mark and will now merge with the Quattroporte for the foreseeable future.
