About 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
Overview

With 46 trims to choose, no one should ever complain that the 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD doesn't grant you freedom of choice. The key change comes in the new 6.6 L diesel-powered engine and 6 speed automatic transmission for 2006. The Silverado 2500HD also got some exterior updates.
Overall, the Silverado 2500HD offers 3 different powertrains: a base 6.0 L, 300 hp V8 with standard 5 speed manual transmission, an 8.1 L, 330 hp V8 with 6 speed automatic, and a 6.6 L, 360 hp V8 with 6 speed automatic. If you add trailer capabilities, you can tow up to 16000 lbs., but the Silverado 2500HD usually has standard towing capacity of up to 12000.
With its multitude of trims and powerful towing capacity, drivers show a lot of love for the 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. However, the mediocre build quality knock it down a notch. excellent truck, fun to drive, 101500 miles, only thing other than routine maintenance right side wheel bearing replaced at 100000 miles. My favorite looking silverado to date. I had Kyle from www.crankitupdiesel.com install a 5 position tune and now on the 120 setting i get 24 mpg in the city up to 31 mpg on highway

GM's lack of engineering/r&d on their steering systems - steering clunk and off-center steering wheel. You would assume alignment but its a weak idler and pitman arm along with a weak steering shaft. Passenger seat shakes like its going to fly out of the truck!! Other than that - Got to live the Duramax and Alli - Far from stock but GM gave me a good base to work with.

Just a all around great truck gas or diesel. They run good, ride good, plenty of power, easier to work on and parts are usually cheaper

6.0 liter pulls our gooseneck horse trailer with no problem. Great transmission which does not change up and down while going up grades. Owned the truck for one year now and have had no maintenance issue. Good dependable truck and good to work with.
