About 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
Overview
Volkswagen made a few minor adjustments to its Touareg SUV for the 2005 model year. For starters, the V10 turbodiesel option was discontinued, so the Touareg was available only with a V6 or a V8 gas engine (not that that's a bad thing). Horsepower for the 3.2-liter V6 was increased from 220 to 240 hp. Both engines were linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.
In addition, the suspension was lowered a bit (on trims without the optional air suspension) and a full-sized rear-mounted spare tire was added. Satellite radio capability and a self-dimming rear-view mirror were also new for 2005.
Beyond that, the Touareg's long list of standard features included a power moonroof, power windows, remote power door locks, heated exterior mirrors, heated front bucket seats, leather and wood trim throughout the cabin, multi-zone climate control, automatic on/off headlights, front and side airbags, cruise control, daytime running lights, and an anti-theft alarm system. Traction control, stability control, descent control, front fog lights, full-time four-wheel drive, and anti-lock brakes were also standard.
Drivers felt the Touareg's ride was firm and its handling was responsive, and that it was especially smooth to drive at highway speeds. The vehicle's luxury amenities and styling were also cited as positive points. Negatives included the fact that the SUV was "very thirsty" and that the six-speed transmission had "overly short gearing," which sometimes made for jumpy shifting, especially on downshifts.

A VW Touareg is actually the same car as the Porche Cayene. It's a sports car with luxury interior and safety of a SUV. I would say it's a dream car: big but easy to drive. You feel like in a Mini or something very close to the ground, not in a SUV. After driving this car it would be very difficult to pick a different car if I have to.

Not your mom's SUV, although it could be is she was a cool mom. It is a fun, unique, and well-built vehicle. VW's premier vehicle feels like something special from the moment you get behind the wheel. It handles better than most domestic cars half its size, and provides the utility of an SUV. The Germans just cannot be beat with this one.

Ultimate luxury and awsome off road capabilities, 2.5 a little sluggish off the mark but hauls once it gets going and superchipped. Ideal would be the V10 but todays feul costs make it impractable.Boot space is a little limited but ample,Maintenance and servicing is what you would expect from VW, very competitive.

great features but history of unreliability and expensive ownership.
