Overview

The 2004 Toyota Avalon only saw a few changes, including the availability of safety features such as an antiskid traction control system and full-power brake assist.
The 2004 Toyota Avalon comes in two trim levels, the XL and the more luxurious XLS. Both trims come standard with a 3.0-liter, 210 horsepower V6 engine. The XL is nicely equipped, including an AM/FM/cassette sound system and cruise control. The XLS includes a few more niceties, like an upgraded sound system, alloy wheels, and a theft-deterrent system. The XLS also comes with option of front bucket seats or a three-seater bench. Fuel efficiency is 21/29 mpg.
Drivers love the 2004 Avalon because they can get a car with a luxury feel at a Toyota price. They also appreciate the roomy interior, generous amount of cargo space, and smooth, quiet ride. Most complaints stem from the appearance of the car, which many drivers feel is somewhat boring both inside and out.

This sedan has all the space of a BMW 745Li for thousands less. Also has Toyota's reliability.

Show your car some love, and you'll get it back in spades. I wanted a good sized sedan, that was reliable so I could travel, knew I could trust a Toyota and I was right. NOW I just need to find the right solution to scratched paint that keeps from repainting the whole thing.

some of the dash controls were not well thought out. however that can be a personal issue rather than a manufactuer fault. thats just one minor reason why i say drive this vehicle for some hours first, before buying. put it through some rugged test driving. dont just think comfort and reliability. get down to some details or after your purchase you will be saying things like " why didnt i notice that before". there can be a blind spot if your mirrors are ill adjusted. fuel econ will be about 20 city, 25 hwy and that may vary 1 or 2 mpgs. all in all if you like camrys, and generally toyotas, you wont be disappointed in this car. finally if you really want more refinement, power, and even fuel economy find a low milage 2005 and try it out. believe me there is a difference in the 04 and 05. sometimes i question why i didnt go for the 05 model instead. money interfered with my decision. but let me tell you a few likes on the 05 avalon. nicer dash layout and interior. way more power and better fuel econ. dual exhaust. some plushier refinements with the seats and trunk. a few other neat power options. my biggest dislike was in the window height profile which made me feel like i was down in a barrel. cant explain it better than that.
