Overview

Besides a few color additions, the biggest change to the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan was the replacement of the AWD SE trim with the Sport AWD. This featured all the trimmings of the Sports package, including a firmer suspension, rear spoiler, monochrome bumpers and grille, along with the 3.8-liter, 180-hp V6 engine that came standard in all AWD Grand Caravans.
Only Grand Caravans were available with AWD, and that distinguished them from the 12-inches-smaller regular Caravans. Another addition for 2000 was an optional dealer-installed VCR entertainment system for the back seats, in case your children just can't get enough of SpongeBob.
Still the leader of minivan pack, the 2000 Grand Caravan is popular for its roomy interior, extra cargo space, tons of storage options and innovative dual sliding doors for easy entry and exit. With the 3.3- or 3.8-liter V6 under its hood, it is prepared for heavy loads, but its light steering makes it feel more like a car than a giant van. Some drivers feel this light steering provides less stability on the highway, and the most common complaints of unhappy owners focused on repair shop visits to deal with bad transmissions and a faulty serpentine belt.

I love my Grand Caravan. With a large family (Myself, Husband, 3 daughters, Son-in-Law and Granddaughter) it really fits the bill in terms of seating. And the removable seats make it easy to haul large loads. The double sliding doors are great for access to either side of the vehicle.

The road noise is terrible...LOUD. The air vent directional flaps inside the vents have all snapped off. The airbag light is on and neither the horn, nor the cruise control work.

The Grand Caravan is a good all around family vehicle. The 3.3 L Engine is peppy enough to get you out and about, and up and going. Plenty of room inside, with oodles of storage. Visibility and handling are good. It may not be as stylish and sleek as an SUV, but, it serves its purpose as an all around family vehicle.
