Overview

Obviously Audi is too busy devising great-looking, superb-performing vehicles to spend time trying to come up with creative names for its cars. Hence, you get the Audi A4 1.8T, which is the sedan or wagon featuring the 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged, 150-hp engine. Or the delightfully droll Audi A4 2.8, which, you guessed it, features the 2.8-liter, 190-hp V6 engine. At least you know what you're getting straight off the bat.
The 2000 Audi A4 wagons come standard as an AWD quattro, while the sedans have standard front-wheel drive with a quattro option. All models offer similar standard features that are pretty generous and provide a lot of high-end comfort for a family car. The wagons offer 31 cubic feet of trunk space even before the seats fold down. In 2000, curtain side airbags is a new option, as is a navigation system. The 2000 A4 also got a little plastic surgery outside, with a new grille and new body-colored moldings and mirror housings to add an air of sportiness. Fog lights were moved down lower on the front bumper. Inside, the center console and dash panel also got a makeover and the rear seats were made more supportive. In the 2.8, power driver's and passenger's seat is now standard.
Complaints about the 2000 Audi A4 have changed little over its lifespan. Maintenance costs are the biggest drawback, along with unhelpful dealers. Owners report poor reliability with the A4s as well, with transmission, brake, and suspension problems heading the list. A cramped backseat proves uncomfortable for most adults. What drivers love about the Audi A4, as always, is its precise handling, superior fuel economy, interior layout, overall classic style, the Tiptronic auto-manual transmission, and the powerhorse quattro AWD. Though initial acceleration is sluggish, drivers love the power and speed of the engines. Even the 1.8 Turbo sets some hearts racing.

Fun car to drive, was European which meant that parts were expensive when you needed them. Performance was fantastic, great car to drive above the speed limit in. Needed repairs every now and then, some squeaks including the clutch. Very good looking car (Blue). Had a great time driving this car, and put over 100,000 miles on it. Another AWD vehicle that was great in the Northeast.

The cabin is built like a bank vault, so even high-milers should be free from rattles and squeaks. Like the saloon, this A4 Avant kick-started Audi’s renaissance as interior design masters. The materials are classy and the styling is measured, understated cool. Space in the back is meagre, but at least the ride is comfortable on most surfaces and you won’t hear much outside din as you’re whisked along at speed. The engines are smooth and hushed until near the red line, but since most of them give strong mid-range shove, you don’t need to go there. Handling? It’s okay – the four-wheel-drive quattro models are better – but it’s no 3 Series Touring. The brakes can bite a bit too sharply, too. Luggage space isn’t generous, but the Avant is more extended hatchback than estate, and the rear seats will fold so you can do the dump trip in one hit.

By far the best car I have ever own. Has enough power to get me around as a daily driver. Maintenance costs haven't been too bad and insurance is cheap. Definitely a fun car in the snow and even in the dirt lol.
