Overview

"Motor Trend" magazine's "Truck of the Year" pick, the 1997 Ford F-150 topped the US market in sales for the second straight year. The "Eddie Bauer" trimline was dropped, with the Lariat trim coming back to join the Standard, XL, and XLT.
The 97 Ford F150 had a sleek new look to go with its laurels. Curvy, aerodynamic design and newly plush styling for the interiors made the popular pickup attractive to buyers. A look under the hood, though, showed that the 1997 Ford F150 was still pushing plenty of power; Ford introduced the modular single overhead cam in this model year, and the choice of engines was between a 4.2 liter Essex V-6, 4.6 liter Triton V8, and a 5.4 liter Triton V8 putting out a hefty 235 horsepower.
The 97 Ford F-150 also offered a range of configurations: long-bed and short-bed models were on offer, as well as a selection of cab setups including extended-cab supercab, standard 2-door and 4-door. Four-wheel drive made this powerhouse pickup a favorite with the off-road set, as well as a rugged workhorse with the durability to handle duty on jobsite, farm, and ranch.

This truck is overall a good relaible work horse. The 4.6L 3V engine that it has offers enough power to get the jobs done that need to be done. As normal for trucks it does not have perfect acceleration/braking but from experience it does have power to go when needed. Appearance is a sharp look in this truck which a much needed improvement from the boxier style the year before. Interior on this is nice then most as it has the lariat option which gives this leather interior. The 4x4 feature is a good investment to make if going to off road as it comes in handy.

The preformance is great for towing with the small 4.6L v-8 Ford stuck in it. Acceleration and braking have some lacking. Its a ford so repairs are few and far between. I DO NOT like the contour styling of this generation. Thats why this is my womans truck. I drive a monte carlo (at least until I find a good mustang or f-150 with a 5.0 v-8), if that says anything about this style and motor. Gas mileage is pretty good we are getting 22-26mpg. I hate driving this thing but for some reason my woman loves it.

It's ok. I like the fact that it's large and people get out of my way. The only problem is it used to be a work truck and it's sort of beaten to hell. I like to think of it as a project though.
