The 1996 Toyota Paseo was totally redesigned in 1996. On the outside, the Paseo got a sleeker front-end, a larger back end, and sleeker lines overall. The new Paseo got a number of new safety features, including include dual airbags and side-impact protection. A number of new upgrades are also available, including a moon roof, a higher-end sound system, and aluminum wheels. All Paseo engines were now rated at 93 horsepower.
The 1996 Toyota Paseo was available in one trim level, a two-door coupe. The engine was a 1.5-liter four-cylinder. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, with the option of a four-speed automatic. Fuel economy was about 26/34 mpg.
Drivers like the 1996 Toyota Paseo for its sporty looks, good fuel economy, and low price. They also like how reliable they are. This is a fun little car to drive to and from work or wherever you need to go. I'm never bored when I'm in my car. It's a fairly sturdy one for it's age too, a couple rattles and squeaks but nothing major. The interior is very logically laid out and everything is within arm's reach. The styling of the car is something that I get compliments on all the time, and the question "What is that?" is almost unavoidable. She gets phenomenal gas mileage, easily twice to three times what my old Mountaineer got. The maintenance fees are really low too. :)

I had this car for 8 years and it had 207,000 miles on it when I sold it. It ran great with no problems. I sold it because it was time to get something bigger. It was a quick little car that got around 32 mpg. It was very fun to drive because of its light weight and its responsive steering. I would recommend this car for its great mpg.

It's a decent economy car. If you're looking for a mundane car that doesn't really stand out but is good on gas, it's ideal. The performance is lacking, but that's to be expected. All together it's pretty solid for what it is.

this car needed a celica motor or turbo, the tercel motor lacked horsepower the car was well built being it was made in Japan I liked the appearance but did not like the lack of aftermarket support very reliable and 5 speed was great on gas it was fun but lacked power and space
