wonderful car. very smooth ride. love the air ride. freeway gas mileage is about 22-25 mpg. city gas mileage is 17-20 mpg. the trans has a sloppy 3-4 shift which was corrected by putting the aod-e shift correction kit. now had nice firm shifts.

I like everything about the car Except doing repairs on it. Most of it is not bad but they put simple parts to replace in areas that make it next to impossible to change them out. Like an O2 Sensor. They put 2 of them on my model and one is deep down on the passenger side of the vehicle behind things that make it hard to get out. The other is someplace down below the car that if you dont know what you are looking for or at you have no clue what it is or how to find it. That goes for many things on this car. This is just one example

When Lincoln debuted this Town car in 1990 it was motor trend's Car of the Year. People might scoff at the 4.6 281 V8, but I think it puts out great power, especially with straight pipes. It does burnouts much better than my Electra did, and that had a 305. My power steering doesn't work, but it handles ok for the size of the car. The one major expense you should plan for with these is fixing the faulty rear air ride suspension (I just put in springs). Aside from that and the fact that fords rust like crazy, these don't seem too bad to maintain. Interior has a nice presentation, the digital gauges can be difficult to cycle through but there is a lot of info that the car keeps track of. Most people like the exterior styling, but I would have preferred a Cadillac Fleetwood if I were buying a full-size car from 1993. This car averaged 19 mpg in its heyday. I think this car would be much more fun to drive if I had my brakes working properly and power steering working, but I really love anything with a V8.
