A unique 2 seater sports coupe powered by mazda's wankel rotary engine. Plenty of aftermarket support, easily customizable and fun. Excellent handling and lots of potential as a track car or high performance street car when placed in the right hands. Rear wheel drive, front engine configuration, nearly 50/50 weight distribution. Unbelieveable horsepower per liter from the factory and capablities, especially on turbo models.

The rotary engine is by far the most abusable engine ever made as long as you maintain it. The rev-happy 13b is a spirited drive and capable of serious horsepower when ported and properly tuned. The sleek and sexy body style of the 2nd generation FC3S has limitless design potential and a healthy array of after market body kits and accessories. Hands down one of the greatest cars ever to reach the shores of USA from Nippon.

I currently own a 1993 Mazda MX-6 and after driving the 1991 RX-7 back-to-back with my MX-6, the RX-7 is so far ahead of MX-6 its not even funny. Handling is amazing, ride quality is stiff (but what do you expect, its a sports car), acceleration is good (faster then my MX-6 2.5L V6) with the 1.3 L Rotary but would be very fast with a turbo. General driving was great, with an amazing short-throw 5 speed gearbox. The car is well laid out with a hatchback rear design for more space and a sunroof to let more light in. The interior for a 17 year old car is better looking and more comfortable than most brand new cars on the market (yes, far better than a new supercharged cobalt). Overall I would rate this car a 9 out of 10 because its so much fun to drive and its very well put together. Gas mileage is about the only downside to the car being a rotary engine with an 8,000 rpm redline. I would recommend this car to anyone!

I love this car! I have wanted an RX-7 project car for 2 years now, and I finally got one cheap to refurbish a bit. I'm having a lot of fun and learing a lot with it. My car was not in the best shape when I bought it, but my friend's is MINT, and is a VERY reliable car to own. The rotary engine is very nice, and is not half as scary as people think, it is just touchy about scheduled maintenance and does not like to be neglected. I love my car, and will keep it as long as I can.
