ex tough car, hard to breakdown, good ground clearance, very good torque, just done a complete body paint job, new music system, low on maintenance, a bit heavy on fuel, handling is very good,no major problems, no body rattles. FUN to drive.

This car has been in the family for 22 years and still going strong. It has been used as a daily commute, but has also been used in the bush and offroad due to requirement. If you don't go offroad, then the tough build of this Patrol (GQ series) is not the best choice for road only use, as there are other cars that suit sealed roads in both drive comfort, and fuel savings. I have no intention to ever sell this car.

I would recommend any SUV lover to go for it. because this car can handle lot more pressure than nowaday's fancy SUVs.The Y60 was radically different mechanically from its predecessors as it now had coil sprung suspension, the rear axle being on a 5 link setup. Most models had a rear Limited slip differential and some variants had a vacuum operated manual rear differential lock. The model now had rear disc brakes and some Y60s even had a PTO-driven front-mounted winch You cant miss the sound of a roaring 4.2l V6 in your garage! See my ride's pic:)

- Performance: - Acceleration, not the best but not too slugish, its a 4.2L Diesel (NO Turbo) - Braking, Excellent! - Handling, Not the best turning circle, but it handles well. - Build Quality: Its tough & capable, small squeaks & rattles on rough terrain, its needed minor repairs to the electrics but all easy fix. - Appearance: Body shape is nice, Looks tough, Interior is in excellent condition. - Cost Of Ownership: - Fuel Mileage, is about 650kms per tank Diesel prices are steady so usually cheaper than Unleaded Petrol. - Maintenance, Change Oil & Filters every 5000kms, & a full service every 10000kms. - Fun Factor: Great for OFF Roading, Sand Dunes you need a turbo for some of the steeper slopes.
