About 1983 Toyota Celica
Overview

The 1983 Toyota Celica saw another addition to its lineup: the GT-S coupe and hatchback. The GT-S was a response to consumers who felt that the Celica had lost much of the sports-car appeal it had in the first generation. It came with flared fenders, larger wheels, sport-tuned suspension, and unique interior finishes.
The 1983 Celica was available as a coupe or a hatchback. The coupe was available as a base-level ST, the midlevel GT or the sporty GT-S. The hatchback was available as a GT or GT-S. The 2.4-liter engine got a slight increase in horsepower, from 96 to 105. Gas mileage was about 26-38 mpg.
The1983 Celica GT-S was an instant hit. Drivers loved the way it handled and found the eight-way adjustable seats to be extremely comfortable. It also was still an extremely well-built and reliable Toyota. While the other Celicas remained popular, the GT-S was the star of the lineup.

The 3rd generation celica's are really fun to drive. They are decently quick, and can handle with the best of them.

I got my 83 in Washington State new in 83 I still have it. It's a great car I love it handles Great. I love that it's a stick I can grab all the power when I need it.I worked constuction and took this vehicle places that a backhoe wouldn't go everyone said, "that I should of put in on video and made Toyota a commercial". I've "rebuilt" the engine pulles out all the stops now (Got NOS?)and It's getting ready for a paint job. Love my 83 coupe.

This was my first "real" car. It had the best stereo I think I've ever had and every option available. The guages and controls wrapped around the driver like an airplane cockpit. The tires were very wide with molding that made them look ever bigger - very sport car like.
