Overview

The 1974 Dodge Charger has much of the styling and performance of the '73 car, but with a slightly sportier look. The redesigned grille and larger quarter-panel windows were added largely to comply with the regulations of the day.
The 1974 model year was the end of the third-generation Dodge Charger and really the end of the true muscle-car era. The Charger was for a while an icon to speed freaks everywhere, thanks in part to its popularity in the movies "Bullitt" and "The Fast and the Furious" and the television show "The Dukes of Hazzard."
Heading away from performance and toward luxury, the 1974 Dodge Charger dropped the Ralley trim package, though the 440 Magnum was still the top engine offered (now de-tuned to 275hp). The most popular trim was the SE with its standard 400cc block providing 260hp to the rear tires. It provided comfort and luxury and was a signal of this vehicle's future in an era of environmental and governmental regulations.

Installed a 440 Police Interceptor. Black on black with a color change stripe. 5 spoke mags. Very Fast. This car would run at 120 mph all day. This car was the definition of a gas guzzler. This car took a lot of abuse.

Very fun to drive. Nice loud and powerful 440. With the Brogham Edition interior in the SE model, it has power windows, AM/FM, factory sunroof, center console w/ a 727 automatic transmission. Yes, filling up a 20 gallon tank gets expensive, but you get a lot of joy out of each gallon. I've had this car for over 12 years now, and I don't know if I could ever part with it.
