About 1971 Chevrolet Corvette
Overview

The exterior of the 1971 Chevrolet Corvette remained unchanged from the 1970 version. Many blamed the strike-shortened production time caused by a labor dispute in 1969. A Sunflower Yellow color was offered for the first time, perhaps a signal of bright skies ahead. Engines ranged from a small-block 350-ci rated at 270 horsepower to a 454-ci big-block rated at 425 horsepower. The small block-based RPO LT1 V8 was a popular option, generating 330 horsepower at 5600 rpm. This car went from 0 to 60 in 6 seconds, and was clock at about 14.5 for the quarter-mile.

Great Car 350CI/350HP engine, T-top, 4 speed manual trans, good power great handling. The old saying "see the USA in your Chevrolet" differently applies to this car. Never had a bad monument just fun fun. This is the third Corvette I have owned 56, 78 and the 71 and by far the 71 has been the best.

This thing passed everything but gas stations and caught fire more than once...but it was all worth the ride. The LS-5 with 454 power and turbo 400 automatic was ground shattering. However, it provided a little too much torque for the frame to handle.

Bought it with 6,000 miles on it. Drove it til 99,000 miles. never had to change a valve cover. Engine remained untouched except for oil changes, spark plugs and wires and air filters. A few wheel bearings, u-joints (both a pain in the rear), and a little trans work and a hole in the pumpkin were real learning experiences but I wouldn't trade the enjoyment of driving that beauty and the looks I got for any amount of work I had to put in. Bridgehampton Blue with both tops. Loved it.
