The car is a rear motor rear wheel drive. It could potentially handle amazing if you redid the steering and maybe put some sandbags in the front. the acceleration is pretty good for a 120hp motor with a 2 speed transmission. It has 4 drum brakes, so those would need to be improved before any serious power went into the car. These cars aren't very expensive, but they will nickle and dime you if you take the cheap route in repairing them. The motor is a horizontally opposed 6 cylinder made by chevy, which looks and sounds pretty sweet when it running.
