The Challenger is riding on the same 1990s-era Mercedes chassis as when the muscle car debuted in 2008. But amazingly, the Dodge lineup isn't entirely backward. The Challenger is more of a legend in 2021 than any muscle car claimed to be in the 1970s. It is a single-minded sled of straight-line speed that has aged, for all the better, into a serious, high-tech dragster. Selling the Challenger as a silly, loudmouthed idiot of a car isn't some marketing ploy—it's the real thing and it's why Dodge can afford to build only three vehicles.
