What’s New for the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse
Chevy gave the Traverse a significant overhaul for the 2024 model year, which brought updated styling, new tech, and more safety features. The hits continue in 2025, as the automaker added a new High Country trim with leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, 22-inch wheels, special towing equipment, and more. The SUV also gained a new Sun and Wheel package and a towing package for the LT trim.
Design
While the Traverse was a friendly-looking family hauler in its previous forms, the newest iteration features stronger styling elements and shapes common on Chevy’s larger SUVs. It features a boxier front-end design, and the off-road-oriented Z71 trim gets beefy all-terrain tires and plastic body cladding.
Powertrain
The Traverse comes with a single powertrain for 2025. It’s a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Power reaches the front wheels or all four through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The turbo four-cylinder took over for the outgoing V6, and while it’s a smaller engine, it makes 18 more horsepower. It also feels lively in operation, moving the Traverse without much strain from a standstill.
Though it’s not the most agile SUV around, the Traverse handles itself with composure, even when the road surface is less than perfect. There’s a little body roll in the corners, but the vehicle is surprisingly capable and planted during spirited driving. That said, its size can make it difficult to maneuver in tight urban areas.
Interior
The Traverse seats up to eight people with a second-row bench, but available captain’s chairs cut the capacity to six. Cloth upholstery is standard, along with a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. Higher trims add genuine leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and heated second-row outboard seats. Cargo space measures 23 cubic feet behind the third row, but it expands to 57.8 cubic feet with the way-back seat folded flat.
Technology
Chevy equips a standard 17.7-inch touchscreen and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster in the 2025 Traverse. Other standard tech features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, multiple USB inputs, and three-zone automatic climate control. Wireless charging, a Bose premium audio system, remote start, and a household power outlet are available.
Safety
The 2025 Traverse comes standard with an impressive list of safety gear. Features include forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, automatic high beams, GM's Teen Driver Mode, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and forward and reverse automatic emergency braking. Available tech includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, Super Cruise, rear parking sensors, rear pedestrian detection, and a safety-alert seat system.
Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, Chevrolet has not released pricing for the 2025 Traverse. For reference, the 2024 SUV started at $41,395 before destination and climbed to more than $60,000 in the top trim with options and accessories. The 2025 Chevy Traverse is expected to become available early in 2025.
