burns oil when idle for more than 1 minute

Car has 150k miles and runs great yet it blue smoke when at ldle

Had same problem with 50k car. Seems like the value seals may have been the culprit. Use car for under 50 mile trips in town. Synthetic oil used since 03. Took on 700 mile trip in 24 hours and no problem now. May have needed a good burn out. Still evaluating ....

at 150k miles, rings and valve seals are most likely the problem.

Compression rings go be worn down where they dont provide a proper seal against the cylinder, or the valves has excessive carbon build up which can be taken to a machinist shop and they'll fix it. Or a bad head gasket.
