are you Afraid to change your oil?
a tauras with 240 on the original trans, Call Ripley im serious! forget about the clunk
That's a pretty good life for that transmission! You've done well to have it last that long! Uncommon but not that unusual - I've seen a couple in the 30+ years I've been playing with Fords. If you lost Overdrive, it's very likely in need of an overhaul. Clunking and banging is usually motor mounts (they just aren't all that good). Plan on $1800 for a trans overhaul or sadly, it may be time to give the old girl up. P.S. - Most transmission oil change intervals are between 60,000 and 100,000 miles - that's a lot more than 2 years of driving.
A 1997 Taurus GL, there are 6 of them listed here in 'used cars' going for around $4,000 to $5,000. They have about half that mileage...
Interesting name you chose for yourself..LOL! I had a '97 Taurus and can honestly say that I'm surprised the transmission lasted THAT long...I definitely would NOT have waited 2 years between transmission flushes on a high mileage car though. I developed an odd problem with the brakes & rotors before I got rid of it. I agree with Tracy...time to let your car give up the ghost and make her way into "Ford Heaven"....
Did you actually lose OD? Or is your OD light flashing?
I have 99 Ford Taurus se and I lost over drive and it's flashing overdrive off. Do anyone know what do I have to do
I don't know how many miles it have. I just bought it cuple mouth ago.
