How do I know if a 2001 Jeep Cherokee transmission is slipping?

It will shift very inconsistent, and when it does shift it slips or feels mushy the engine may rev up a bit too. A transmission should always have a crisp shift. Check your transmission fluid level while the Jeep is running. If its low fill it to its proper level then look for the leak.
