2001 civic wont start but if i unhook the battery

A couple of times when I have gotten into my
Honda Civic, nothing happens when I turn the key.
The car is totally dead. I cannot move the gearshift
from Park to Drive. The car is totally dead. But if I
disconnect and reconnect the battery, then it starts
and runs fine. Any idea

I suspect you have a bad battery cable, check both ends or just replace.

I feel like a idiot. Went out checked the negative wire were it connects to the transmission. It was loose! Tightened everything up started right up
