Here we go again. Any one purchasing a Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor should remember that these vehicles are running all day, pushed to the limit, many times abused instead of used. These are excellent cars, for the intended purpose, but when they are retired it is because maintenance has become very costly. I say it because I am a retired Sheriff's Deputy. How many miles in the car?

104,000 it has its maintenance log. Its well kept up with. I can see shifter moving. But will not go into gears.
If it will not go into gear after to you move the shift lever into D the problem can be inside the transmission. This transmission has a shift solenoid valve that controls the transmission shift and maybe it went bad. Keep in mind, there can be a number of other reasons. Get the transmission diagram and check it. For repairs of this type, the transmission needs to be removed.
