Tranny getting hot

why is my transmission in my 2011
Silverado getting so hot when idling sitting
in heavy traffic ?? It will just keep climbing
until I get a good speed going then it will
come back to normal

It get is hot due to lack of air flow through the transmission cooler. If you are concerned about it you could install an after market cooler with its own fan. I have one that I am installing in my truck for the same reason. I am installing a Derale Atomic Cool. Putting the truck in neutral will reduce the temperature climb.

Adding a deep transmission pan will also extend your transmission life. I like the Mag-Hytec ones.
