Heater

Asked by Guru5P6V6 Jan 30, 2018 at 09:37 AM about the 2008 Pontiac G6 GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It takes a long time for my heater to warm up. Also, when
it finally does if I put it in park it blows cold air. What could
be wrong?

Check the coolant level, check coolant is flowing. Feel the heater hoses, are they pressurized or hot? Check the heater control valve - this valve sits inline with one of the heater hoses at the firewall. It needs to open when heat is turned on, if not heater core can't get any coolant flow. Have someone move the heater control to max heat while you watch the valve or feel hose for coolant flow.
