Why is the oil temperature reading hotter after a VVT and Oil pressure switch replacement?  (car ran out of oil completely.  replaced w/regular motor oil not previous synthetic)

If you ran the engine out of oil it is a wonder that it runs at all. Friction makes heat.

Of course, point taken. My question is that the OB2 code was P0026 and the above parts replaced. So, is this heat register a new normal, a common result? Any suggestions? Change the oil filter, that kind of thing?
