Vw beetle 2005 indicator lights

Hi. I am having problems with the indicator lights
on the left hand side,every time I lock or unlock car
with key fob the lights won't go out. My hubby
thinks it might be the immobiliser but when he took
the indicator bulbs out last night & pressed key fob
to lock car it worked
Please help,  I'm fed up with it happening :(

I had a similar issue with my 2009 beetle convertible. After we replaced the car battery it was fine
