My 2003 C240 is not moving Forward or in reverse

Hey guys, So i bought the car used last year November. Since then i notice my car
hesitates when accelerated but eventually will move, No check engine light but a ticking
sound fro the drivers side. being a girl i thought i was not warming up properly.
Yesterday on my way home i stopped at a restaurant for a 5 mins and when i came out
and tried to reverse, My car turned on and started to move back but stopped. i tried
going forward it went a little and then it just felt stuck. i had to get it towed because its
not moving at all . Its at the mechanic and i will be going there this A.m but i don't want
to be tricked being a female
