2015 Silverado stabilitrak/traction control

Asked by Javier May 17, 2018 at 05:07 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Z71 Double Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2015 Silverado. Recently I had the “service
stabilitrak” message on the dash. At first it would come on
and my truck would “flicker”. What I mean by that is that
when the message came up he truck would kind of shut
off and come right back on(Kind of like when an alternator
or a battery goes bad and you have to reprogram your
radio stations. I’m sure many of you have dealt with this
part)
Last week I was trying to parallel park and the message
popped up again only this time I felt it different because I
noticed  the truck would  “flicker” when I turned the
steering wheel to either left or right.(took me forever to
park btw because the truck kept flickering so much but
anywaaaays..)While I was still  trying to park the tc
(traction control) light came up on my dash. I figured if I
switched the truck to 4wd the tc light and the stabilitrak
message would go away (idk why I thought like that but I
did) so I put my truck in 4wd and parked it. Now I have
another problem because the truck is stuck on 4wd!‍♂️
What I want to know is if I have more than one problem
goin on here or if it might be one of those things where a
fuse or a module or something of that sort could be
causing this.

I tried being as detailed as possible in this post so
hopefully it’s not hard to understand my problem and you
guys may be able to help me out. Thanks in advance!!

Ps all these electric parts on vehicles that used to be
manual are convenient but a FREAKING HASSLE!

There is a traction control sensor on your wheel bearings. It will try to adjust according to speed of each wheel. It may be you have a bad wheel bearing as that was my expirance in my '09. It effected the traction control/stabilitrax sensor possibly draining battery

Also check your battery ground cable. I had the same Stabilitrak message pop up numerous times. My steering would lock and sometimes the engine would shut off. 1st trip they only replace a positive cable, 2nd trip was a new Body Control Module, 3rd trip was a new steering module. 4th trip did the trick when they replaced my ground cable. Luckily it was all under warranty.

This exact problem occurred on me today with my truck with 116k miles on a 2015. Actually, twice. I'll have to look into the Wheel bearing sensor as suggested.
