Sunroof doesn't open

BMW Dealer told me that it would cost $6,000 to repair the sunroof that
didn't work and they blamed the water infiltration into the trunk on this.  So
dealer lied in order to do an expensive repair.  However. now the BMW repair
non dealer shops don't want to deal with the sunroof.  They are telling me
that BMW has a proprietary computer program that only they can access to
fix the sunroof.  Is this true?

All you can do is keep shopping around for an indie shop that will take it on or bite the bullet and go to the dealer. Don't you love BMW?

Since the vehicle is only four years old it may very well be true. BMW may not have released the information to the aftermarket yet. What's the warranty on the body integrity? I would hope that a four year old vehicle wouldn't be leaking water and damaging sensitive electrical parts! Especially a high end vehicle like BMW! My 18 year old S10 pick up with 300,000 miles on it doesn't leak!! Hope that helps! Jim

I would never buy a car with a sunroof unless I could garage it. Too many potential problems.
