Patriot Speakers keep cutting out

Asked by Menna Jul 23, 2019 at 07:35 PM about the 2014 Jeep Patriot Latitude

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi! I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot. Up until today my
sound system was fine (except for the actual radio
not working). But now if I try to play music either
via Bluetooth or with an aux cord, the speakers cut
out every two-three seconds with a little “click”
before coming back on. I tried restarting my car,
unplugging the cord, so on. Even if no music is
playing the clicking noise still occurs from the
speakers.

Our 2014 wrangler does the same thing. Any resolution to the problem as yet?

This just now started happening to me, 2015 Patriot Sport. I checked antenna cable, checked each speaker. I know mopar has a wonderful way of linking wiring to other things. I really don’t want to have to buy a new head unit

Mine has done all of the above--these stock radios suck donkey balls. This is a known issue yet there is no recall.

I’m having this exact same issue with my 2016 Patriot. Anyone find any solutions?

My 2015 Jeep Patriot just started doing this same thing. Makes the clicking every 3 or 4 seconds or so. No matter if the radio is off, if I'm listening to SXM, AUX cord, AM/FM. It's aggravating.

Add me to the list. 2014 Patriot- audio “pops” every few seconds, AM/FM has no sound at all, never attempted to play a CD. Problems all started Oct 2019.

Now mine has started skipping completely on top of the clicking. If I use the aux cord it cuts out every few seconds for a little bit and the radio still doesn’t play any sound. Has anyone else noticed any electrical shortage type issues in theirs as well? I’m not having issues with the windows and buttons on my steering wheel not working while my lights are on.

I’m having this exact same issue in my 2013 patriot! Radio hasn’t been working for months. And then yesterday, I drove to work with my music plugged in via aux, everything was fine. After work plugged in my music and the above mentioned clicking and cutting out every few seconds began. Does it on the Disc function as well. Could this not be grounds for a recall of so many people are having this issue with these crap stereos?

I have a Jeep Patriot 15’ and if I use Bluetooth or aux cord, my music gets low on volume every few seconds and what I have to keep doing is move my seat up, down or whichever way and then my sound gets louder again. But I’m doing this constantly because it only helps for a few more seconds. My radio sound doesn’t get low and I haven’t tried CDs. Only noticed on Aux and Bluetooth. I’ll probably have to take it in to have that figured out.. electrically .. ugh. Oh And I have noticed a clicking or cutting out kind of sound as well. Has anyone figured that out ?

I am having the same issue with my 2014 Jeep Wrangler. The Radio has not worked in 2 years, the satellite and aux still did. Now I have an intermittent pop and the sound is on about 4 secs, off about 2 secs, and repeat. I tried the wiper connector (jeep site recommended that) and resetting radio (neg terminal on battery) no luck. Does anyone have a solution? Would a new head unit fix this?

I had this issue for a couple years. Finally broke down and got a new radio. Works perfectly now. So it’s definitely just the radio, not the wiring or anything else. Jeep needs to recall these radios, it’s ridiculous.

My Patriot came with a bad radio. I bought oneon ebay and it went til a few weeks ago and Same Thing Again. I remeber when guys would just buy a new car stereo. A good one, like Alpine and brag about having a good stereo in their car. It looks like the big screen replacement radio is the only answer. A fairly unused one on Ebay just went for 285.00! I'm going to the car stereo guys up the street for "counseling"
