Car won't start on first turn of key

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I turn the key, the lights on the
dashboard light up, but nothing else
happens.  If I turn the key again, the car
starts right up.  This has happened several
times - first thing in the morning; when I've
stopped to pick up groceries.
Repair shop says alternator is OK.
Any ideas?

AAA checked battery and it is OK. Will have solenoid checked next. Thank you.

If the car doesn't start on the first try but starts fine after, you probbly have a fuel pump problem.
