Rear sagging 2003

Asked by wedobbi2001 May 02, 2012 at 09:09 PM about the 2003 Volkswagen Jetta

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I like to do outdoorsy stuff but I have a little car so I have a bike rack that goes in a
trailer hitch and cross bars that I put kyacks on top off, and I have subs in my trunk, well
with all this weight towards the rear it hangs real low and bottoms out sometime, any
way to fix this without spending a whole lot of money? I was thinking about new struts
but I don't really know how shocks and that sort of thing affect it

New struts is definitely your best and least expensive option, i would suggest heavy duty so you don't have to do it again soon.

There are height-adjustable strut/spring kits as well...check out TireRack.com...they have occasional deals. They a bit more, but come with springs as well. The Koni's are on sale this month...I've used them before with good results, but they don't raise the vehicle. All in all, your problem may only need fresh springs and struts.
