Where do you fill your manual transaxle fluid on a 1990 ford escort

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced my CV axle on my 90's 1.9L 5 speed escort. all the fluid drained out and I cant
figure out where to refill it. I read that I can use ATF fluid, and that it might be where the
speedometer cable attaches. I cant seem to get the right answer. Help

IIRC "Manual transaxle" is just another name for a manual transmission. If so, you don't use ATF, you use gear oil. Usually on the manual transmissions, there will be a plug on the bottom for draining and a plug on the side for filling. You fill it all the way up until oil runs out the hole.

Can't edit these posts, but manual transmission....gear oil. Automatic transmission... ATF.

Be sure to remove the fill plug first and then the drain plug!
