Car died while driving...
My wife was driving and her van
died while coming to a stop. She
tried to start it and it cut off
again. The battery died while
trying to start and even on
jumper cables continued to die
then dead...while trying to start
it the starter was making
horrible noises what could this
be
charge the battery fully and have it load tested. if its good, try to start. if it starts put a multimeter on the battery engine running. should be a minimum of 13.5 volts. could be a bad alternator. as far as the starter, it may be stuck and ruined from overcranking.
Well i got a new starter and checked the alternator and still wont start. Its getting oil, the spark plygs are good and the timing belt is fine. I dont know what else it could be.
You are either missing spark or fuel. I am assuming the battery is good and the alternator is charging. Check for spark and have the fuel pressure tested. You should be able to hear the fuel pump cycle when your turn the key to the on position. If you can't hear it, check the relay. You can squirt a little carb cleaner into the intake and see if it fires. If it does, then you may not be getting fuel. You can get a little spark tester light for only a few bucks. Check that too.
The sparks are good the fuel pressure is fine and i tried starting fluid in the intake. still wont start
when was your last tune up? I had a similar problem on a s10 pickup. had spark and fuel, wouldn't even fire when I sprayed carb cleaner in the intake. ended up being the cap and rotor. by the way, use carb cleaner instead of starting fluid, it wont dry out the upper cylinders
something else occurred to me, another thing that can cause no start even with spark and fuel is a broken timing chain/belt. it would also account for the strange noise while trying to start.

Hi specialist My Honda Odyssey 2000 model dies when driving and it starts again after turnoff . It makes problems when somebody is stopped behind and big problem if they come closer because when Honda car dies then if there is slope then it goes back. This car has no any other issues as mechanic told, time to time serviced. Could you plz tell me what will be the problem while driving when it stops. Thankyou

Honda Odyssey 2014 EX-L My wife was driving and her van died in the highway. It shows check battery light, she start the car again and pull on the side but as soon she press the gas it died again so we took it to the dealer and they check battery and alternator both of them are good.
