Yes, there are outfits that will sell you a 'warranty' but is much more like an insurance policy. What they do is already know the average cost of repairs for any given car, over whatever time period, take that figure X2 or X3 and charge you that much in premiums. and add so many deductibles and exclusions IMO not worth it. Won't cover belts, hoses, brakes, most anything like that. Then if you do have a claim, even legitimate, they will try to weasel out of paying. Every time. A good thing to do is take the money you would have paid in premiums, set it aside, and you will have that to use for unexpected costs.
