1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible

Asked by Will_U Nov 07, 2018 at 03:07 PM about the Ford Galaxie

Question type: Car Customization

So I have bought a Galaxie and it didn’t
come with seatbelts. Did the ‘67 Galaxie
have seat belts back in the day or not? Just
wondering if I should put the seatbelts on my
list

I am sure belts were an option if not standard. My dad had a 67 Chevelle wagon that had factory belts. My 67 Firebird and my 67 Cougar also had factory seat belts. Unless you want to die young install new belts today! I would consider a racing seat belt but you can buy vintage style belts. Try Summit Racing.

I think seatbelts were standard equipment starting in 1966. Also were back up lights, safety flashers. I further think that (at least in 1966) that there were both standard belts and optional? deluxe belts.

My 1966 Galaxie 500 4 door came with only 4 lap seat belts from the factory, I found 2 more at a new part old car swap meet and installed them in the center of the front and rear seats so I could safely have all of my kids in it at one time.
