Kia rolls out its first two-door coupe, the appropriately named Forte Koup, for 2010. Designed to compete with such vehicles as the Honda Civic Coupe and the Scion tC coupe, the Forte Koup borrows its underpinnings from the Forte sedan but sits lower than the sedan, and measures slightly shorter, for a sportier overall feel. In addition, it displays a distinctive exterior design, with a bold grille, aggressive air intakes, swept-back wrap-around headlights, a rear diffuser, and dual exhaust pipes. The Forte Koup also rides on a sportier suspension, which delivers good handling and a smooth, stable ride, according to reviewers.
The front-wheel-drive Forte Koup comes in EX and SX trims for 2010, powered by two different engines. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 156 hp and 144 lb-ft of torque drives the EX trim, while the SX receives a larger 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which generates 173 hp and 168 lb-ft of torque. In the EX, the engine links to a five-speed manual transmission, which comes standard, or an optional four-speed Sportmatic automatic. The SX comes equipped with a six-speed manual shifter. Both engines provide decent performance, although some reviewers find fault with the engines' throttle response, which affects smooth driving at lower speeds.
Inside, the Forte Koup comes well-equipped for a compact coupe. Standard features for both trims include air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth, remote keyless entry, and a six-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD player and Sirius satellite radio. The driver's seat features six-way adjustment, including height. The SX adds such features as sportier cloth upholstery with red stitching, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, metal pedals, a trip computer, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel. Power windows and door locks come standard on both trims.
Forte Koup trims equipped with the automatic transmission include an EcoMinder fuel-efficiency monitor, which guides drivers in achieving better fuel economy. Storage spaces in both trims include a center console with cubbies for small items. An optional Leather Package adds a more upscale feel, with such features as leather upholstery and heated front seats.
The Forte Koup comes with a full range of airbags, including dual front, front seat-mounted, and full-length side-curtain airbags. Electronic stability control and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution also come standard on both trims. The EX rides on 16-inch alloy wheels, while the SX upgrades to 17-inch alloy wheels.

Bought new, great first car that I have driven heavily over the past four years. Great Reliability for a cheap car and is quite fun to drive. Could use a bit more power to make it really fun. Overall I would rate as a B+ car, value is great.Mar 27, 2015

Manual transmission, not automatic, although the back seat is roomy for it's size it would not be to comfortable for a bigger person, the side mirrors are nice but they are small and leave area's for blind spots, and the back seat is not the most convenient to access but it is a two door.Feb 22, 2015

its a cheap fast and fun car with the comfort of an luxury sports car but not the neck bracking acceleration or handeling of a formula1 car. You will get the bang for your buck as long as you dont have the highest expectations.Aug 25, 2014

Appearance is unique enough that I still get glances after 2 years, even from other Kia Forte Koupe EX drivers, cos the SX color matching & premium wheels are far more attractive. Car has been to garage for oil changes only. I can say, car is totally reliable. Never actually determined the precise mpg, but I believe this car sips gas more than other compacts. This baby is full of power & vigour! Handling/driving is pure joy. Acceleration feels more like a muscle car, seems to have double the hp assigned. I could not get to the speedometer limit, because this car just flies by everything else on the road. Oct 08, 2012

it gets amazing gas millage and comes loaded with a ton of features but it is slow and doesnt handle all that great deff. not what im used to in a car over all id say its an okay car for daily driving Jun 15, 2010

Performance is awesome, much better than the honda civic automatic 1.8 liter engine. I test drove both cars and the Forte Koup EX topped the civic. The car is highly responsive as to acceleration and braking. It's touchy. It's a very fun car to drive because it hangs to the road around hugh curves accccelerating to 65 miles an hr. Gas milage is wonderful.. I am saving big time. getting about 31 miles per gal. I haven't needed any repairs, because I have only 1,200 miles on it now. I love the fog lights, leather interior, sat. radio and all of the extra +'s for the price. This ride IS FLY! love it, and I've seen folks head turning when i go down the road, because it's a HOT RIDE! May 31, 2010

2.4 turbo kit on 2.0
ok we have a 2.0 kia forte koup and we want to know if the exhaust manifolds are different between the 2.0 and the 2.4... reason for the question is because they have a few turbo kits for the 2.4 but none for the 2.0 i want to know if the engines are different in any way other then just the displacement. and if there are any other restricting factors with the 2.4 kit...also if anyone knows of a place that carries a kit for the 2.0
