The 1998 Ford Mustang had few changes from the 1996 Mustang and 1997 Mustang. The Saleens were so close to one another that many refer to the car as the "1997-1998 Saleen."
The GT did manage to find an extra 10 horsepower somewhere, moving from 215 to 225 with a similar 4.6-liter V8.

Great car for all situations. Handles short commutes as well as long road trip. The convertible top is a joy to use as it is fully automatic. Good performance after 16 years of service. Looks really great for the rear.May 05, 2015

Gotta say the 98 mustang is a great lil pony car. A true mustang all the way. Would for sure buy and cruse another one again. The performance and handling are great. You can feel the sports car in these pony cars.Jul 14, 2014

When you buy a mustang, you know you're getting a car that looks cool and is great in good conditions. If you live south of the Mason-Dixon line, it's a great car. Just never ever, ever take it out in the snow.May 14, 2013

This car is one of the American Muscle cars. I think that it lives up to the legend, specially with how it performs. The cost is cheap compared to cars it can keep up with or even beat. And it is fun to drive aswell. Sep 07, 2010

The performance is all relevant, braking is good for the acceleration, handling is good. Build quility is amazing 12 year old car still running smooth. i think its a good looking car. cost is reasonable. i enjoy the stang and would recommend it to anyone.Aug 25, 2010

I really like my Mustang, it looks great and is fun to drive. The var however has very little power probably due to the V6 engine. The turning radius is also pretty bad. The build quality is pretty good and I have had only a few problems from this car even though it is 12 years old.Jul 16, 2010

Performance is acceptable could be better, could be worse. Build Quality is fine a little something comes up now and then but nothing to worry about. Appearance is great considering it is 11 years old. It has a couple blemishes but still shiny and I still like it. Cost of ownership is surprisingly great considering it is a sports car and V8. Not the newest vehicle, and like any it has its downers. However, the downers are smothered by the uppers. Off the line torque is outstanding. Roll the throttle up to 3500RPM, and get shoved into your seat with exhilerating horsepower. Slight squeaks in the body movement, but that comes with age. the body may seem old, but is a very smooth curvy finish. Interior is Simple and easy to use. Con - Shift handle is a little far for the average driver to reach fifth comfortably. 23MPG out of a v8 5-speed. Simple to work on, and many of aftermarket suppliers keep prices to upgrade low. Boundries are endless! Keep it stock with 250 hp and little maintenance, or go all out and work your way up to 600+Hp for a few thousand. Fun to drive, and definately a headturner :-) Quick Braker with sticky tires, and aftermarket suspension and bushing upgrades can make it turn on a dime.Jan 22, 2009

Its got torque but a little low on HP. Fun as hell to drive. Good mpg if you don't drive with a heavy foot. Appearance is good, beautiful Bright Atlantic Blue. 225hp stock 290ft lbs of tq. My mods include:
-Underdrive pullies
-O/r H pipe
-Flowmaster catbacks
-Cold air intake
-MSD coils
-MSD plug wires

I have put thousands of dollars in this car, and am still not finished. This car is absolutely phenominal! My mom bought it brand new, off the truck in 1998 and it's been our car ever since. I love my car so much that I don't drive anything else but my Ford. Performance - Acceleration, Braking, Handling all great.
Build Quality - No repairs
Appearance - Good interior(Tan) and exterior (Green)
Cost of Ownership - Good on gas
Fun Factor - Lots of fun to drive. Loud system along with loud exhaust system made by Flowmasters.

great handling, very fun. I think it's only 220 horses but feels more like a strong 275. It wasnt bad at all on gas. amazingly it handled just fine in the snow. got it wth like 9k miles on it so it was mint, engine was so clean you could eat off it.Aug 02, 2008

I am very happy with my purchase. I wasn't looking for a convertible but it fell into my hands and I have had lots of fun with it! Gas mileage averages about 19mpg. But what do you expect with a sports car? I have been more than pleased with most aspects of the car!Jul 18, 2008

+Performance- Great acceleration for a heavy weight car, bad braking, bad handling due to powerful engine and RWD ( heavy weight in front causes back tires minimal grip especially in rainy conditions)
+Build quality- Front tires shake drastically when braking at high speeds.
+Appearance- Looks great on the inside, needs paint job.
+Cost of Ownership- The most expensive thing for this car is the insurance, which sucks for pretty much any young driver who drives a sport car. ( I'm 18)
+Fun Factor- This is not a dull car, the engine is powerful and fun to drive as long as it's not in the rain.Jul 13, 2008

I have put about $7000 into modifying this car. Engine mods include new cam, big valve heads, p&p intakes, CAI, UDP, and more. It has H&R sport springs, caster/camber plates, and new shocks/struts. Got body kit put on it which includes modified cobra R bumper, Cobra R hood, smoked headlights and fog lights, and 10th anni cobra wheels (17x9).
Best numbers at dyno are 190rwhp and 240rwtq. Takes curves really well! Top speed is 149 mph on dyno. Apr 28, 2008

The car is a good performer, it handles well, stops well, and goes pretty good. The car is on the heavy side for a 281 CI motor but the really nice interior, good handling, and awsome looks make up for it. Also, this car gets really good gas milage and usually hangs around 22/23 miles per gallon.Mar 17, 2008

I love this car. It is heavily modified from where it was when I bought it. It is a full suspension car and has several performance modifications. Even with 4.10:1 gears in the rear end, it still gets 23mpg on the highway. Before I installed the longtubes, it was getting 28mpg!Mar 07, 2008

Why am i losing so much coolant?
I have a 1998 Mustang v6 and i realized last weekend i was very low on coolant, so i filled it up to somewhere between full hot and full cold, now (wednesday) i am low AGAIN! I looked for any puddles or signs of leaks on my hoses but everything was dry, my radiator is in good shape and the coolant reservoir doesn't leak. I know fords suck up coolant but this is rediculous!! Please help.

avoid the alarm
if you lock and unlock doors with remote it will avoid alarm as well with the inside door lock button and then using your key to unlock seems to be the way to again avoid alarm, does this make sense
