Some people say older vehicles like this from the 80's and 90's were "throw away" cars.. but the community of festiva owners would happily disagree. The amount of money you put back into your pocket by driving a festiva is impressive. You get good mpg at a fraction of the cost of a new vehicle. I've used mine for commuting, hauling, moving and on long trips. That is just one of many pro's to these little gems.Jan 17, 2015

Hardly any heat, no AC, no CD or even tape player, slow, uncomfortable, ugly, etc...
But it gets me to work and back every time for next to nothing, 39mpg last tank!
Got it for free, and spend $400 total (other than gas) on it so far. Been driving it for years, I've never loved
and hated something so much at the same time.

Transmission shifts on 91 festiva
Just bought a Ford festiva and noticed at times it seems gutless, more than usual when taking off. After a couple times of this happening and having it actually down shift I've come to the conclusion that the transmission is not always shifting back to 1st when I come to a stop then taking off in second. Any suggestions. I also have a feeling that the engine came from a manual with no ac because the idle does not compensate for the load when put in gear or turning on the AC.
