Got a 2001 Ford Focus SE Station Wagon that will not take fuel

Asked by Pasquale Oct 08, 2014 at 01:23 PM about the 2001 Ford Focus SE Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filter, all the hoses, all of the sensors and valves.  I
have no check engine light on.  A full tank of gas and a new battery.  Why it is not taking
fuel.  I even had the fuel injectors cleaned.  I do not know what to think of next.  I really
don't want to have it seen by a mechanic because I already spent $450.00 on all the
stuff and still no results.  I even changed everything over again to see if I made a error
or missed something.  No luck.  Please help I am desperate.

I did what you told me. Gas squirts out. I have pressure. Car is starting but, will not stay running now. Put in Drive and it dies. WTH! I thought at first it was the fuel pump fuse I took out to change the filter and pump. That's good. I sprayed all the hoses and no leaks. Do you think it could be internal? I smell gas on the right side of the engine. Maybe it's time for the scrap yard. It's 13 years old.

I had rough starting, dying at idle, eng light saying #2 cyl/plug trouble, replaced the fuel regulator that sits just before the fuel rail for the injectors. Back running excellent again. Ford is out of that $100+ part. Go to your junkyard

Did you check Fuel Pressure Regulator or Idle Air Control? My Ford wagon had the same issue. I replaced the TPS gaining some control, but after I replaced the Control Module on the distributor....SUCCESS!
