The brand new rear-wheel drive 2006 Lincoln Mark LT Base blends luxury features with pickup utility. Built on a double wishbone front and solid live axle rear suspension, the four-passenger pickup measures out at 18.5-feet in length, with a choice of a 5.5- or 6.5-foot pickup bed. Tiedowns and tow hooks are standard, and a bedliner, bed extender, and chrome rail tracks can be added. Trimmed on the outside by a large chrome grille and chrome banding, the 2006 Mark LT Base features 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires. Power comes from a 24-valve, 5.4-liter V8 and 4-speed automatic, which deliver 300-hp and 365 ft-lbs of torque at 3750 RPM. Fuel economy averages 14/18, and the optional trailer hitch allows up to 8900 pounds of towing capacity.
Front captain's chairs get 41 inches of legroom, while the split-folding rear bench passengers get a roomy 39 inches. The rear seat also features a folding armrest. All seats are covered in leather, with leather, alloy, and wood accents throughout the cab. Power windows, locks, and mirrors, remote entry, a trip computer, and heated power front seats with driver's memory are all standard. On the wheel reside controls for cruise, audio, and climate. A tachometer, temperature readout, and compass provide driver information. A CD changer features MP3 playback, and second row audio controls are available. Intermittent front wipers, tilt steering, and a front power outlet are also part of the package. Options add power-adjustable pedals, a sunroof, and a DVD player.
Earning five stars in frontal impact tests, the 2006 Mark LT Base comes equipped with traction control and 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution. Dual front airbags with passenger deactivation are also standard, but side impact bags are not offered. In the lighting deparment you'll find automatic headlights, foglights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Also included are rain-sensing wipers, mirrors with turn signals, and a tire monitor. Rear backup sensors are a useful option. Larger 20-inch wheels, running boards, tubular side steps, a power sliding rear window, and a limited slip differential are also available.

The on-demand 4WD system in the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT 4WD features both high and low-range gearing, meaning you can actually take this luxury pickup off-road. The 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires help in that area too. Skid plates are optional to add protection to the nine inches of ground clearance. A limited slip rear differential is also available. The 4WD Mark LT does not come with traction control. The pickup seats up to five with front row captain's chairs and a second row bench that split-folds. Legroom reaches 41 inches up front and 39 in the back. An optional power sliding rear window opens onto the pickup bed, available in two lenghts: 5.5 or 6.5 feet. An optional bed extender allows for longer objects. Chrome rails and a bedliner are also optional.
Like the Base version, the 2006 Mark LT 4WD gets its power from a 300-hp, 5.4-liter SOHC V8 and 4-speed automatic with overdrive. Torque maxes at 365 ft-lbs at 3750 RPM. Tow hooks are standard, but adding the available trailer hitch gives the pickup 8900 pounds of towing power. The pickup was not tested for side impact safety, as it does not feature side airbags. It does earn five stars in frontal tests, with standard dual front airbags and passenger sensors. The 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes come with electronic brakeforce distribution. A front stabilizer bar, tire monitor, automatic headlights, foglights, mirrors with turn signals, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are all standard. Parking sensors, running boards, and 20-inch chrome wheels can be added.
