The 2007 Jaguar XK series gets a full redesign; the first since the car was introduced in 1997. The XK coupe is the entry-level offering for this model lineup, which includes three other variations. The XK can also be had as a convertible. The 2007 updates are highlighted by more gadgets, extra interior room, and a new all-aluminum construction.
The rear wheel drive XK coupe is equipped with a 4.2 liter V-8, which produces 300 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque. The engine is paired with a six speed automatic transmission. The new construction drops the curb weight well below 4000 pounds, and acceleration is much improved. Both the coupe and convertible will zip from 0 to 60 in about six seconds.
Jaguar includes all the finishing touches that set it apart from German and Japanese luxury competitors. Rich burl walnut veneers, chrome trim and soft English leather are abundant inside. The XK standard features list is as long as you'd expect: DVD-based navigation, premium Alpine sound system, power/heated seats, keyless start and Bluetooth.
New seats provide plenty of room and comfort in the front, but the rear quarters are better suited for small children.

The Jaguar XK series receives a full overhaul for 2007, finally pushing the ten-year-old model into its second generation. The wheelbase has been pulled outward to offer some additional interior room, and a new all-aluminum build will help shed some pounds. The XK will see improvements to both acceleration and gas mileage thanks to the reduced bulk, but only the front passengers will benefit from the extra room.
New features this year include a more advanced version of Jaguar's CATS (Computer Activated Technology Suspension) and more powerful brakes. Jaguar fills the blur walnut and leather-adorned interior with a myriad of luxury items, including
a DVD-based navigation system, keyless start, an Alpine sound system, rear parking sensors, heated power seats, and full power accessories.
The two lower model XKs are powered by the same 4.2 liter V-8 as the potent XKR, but here the V-8 works on its own to produce 300 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque. All XKs are rear wheel drive and include a six speed automatic transmission. A steering wheel paddle shifter accompanies the old console J-Gate, affording driver's the quasi-manual experience.

The R-Style is a performance enhancement that can be applied to both the XJ and XK Jaguar models. The R-Style Jaguars include a supercharger placed atop the already-powerful V8 engine and retuned steering and suspension.
The XKR models will appear later on in 2007. The entire XK series has been redesigned this year, but not past the point of recognition. Many of the previous styling cues are apparent, but the new XK gets a longer wheelbase and all-aluminum construction.
The XK series includes luxury and convenience features like leather/power/heated seats, walnut or poplar wood trim, DVD navigation, a premium Alpine sound system, Bluetooth, keyless start, full power accessories and parking sensors. The XKR is differentiated from the XK by a mesh grille, special badging, 19-inch wheels, quadruple exhaust, and adaptive headlights.
Other performance-minded upgrades can be found throughout the XKR. Its supercharged 4.2-liter engine brings the horsepower count from 300 to 420, and torque jumps from 310 and 418 pound-feet. A sportier version of the adaptive suspension and a more responsive steering system are also included.

Jaguar has completely redesigned the XK series for the 2007 model year, signifying the end of the ten-year-long first generation. The new XK is the work of Ian Callum, who also designed the Aston Martin DB7 and Vanquish. Callum has added some hints of the 1961 Jaguar E-Type, most visible on the front fascia. An all-aluminum body construction and stretched wheelbase are also new for this year.
The XKR Convertible offers seating for four, but the rear seats are not suited for adult comfort. The extra interior room created by a longer wheelbase will only be enjoyed by front passengers. The anticipated Jaguar amenities are all inside: leather heated seats, walnut or poplar wood inlays, DVD navigation system, premium Alpine sound system with an in-dash six CD changer, keyless start, and every power feature imaginable.
The R-Style models are set apart from the other XKs by performance and sport-appearance enhancements. The R adds 19 inch wheels, a special mesh grille, 'Supercharger' badges, quad exhaust, and upgraded headlights. The 4.2 liter V-8 is fitted with a top mounted supercharger, which boosts horsepower from 300 to 420. The adaptive suspension and steering have also been retuned. The XKRs will make 0 to 60 in just under five seconds, while offering shockingly efficient 17/25 mpg fuel economy.
The R-Style upgrade adds about $15000 to the price of the XK, and a well equipped XKR Convertible brings that prestigious sixth figure into the MSRP.
